Giveaway To Win a Nature Inspired Brabantia Ironing BoardWith My Family Ties Blog

“Sjors Eerens, category manager Laundry caring: ‘Research shows that experiencing nature, even nature prints, reduces stress and makes you feel better emotionally and physically. So these ironing boards help you in more ways than one.”
With performance and speed in mind Brabantia have designed their ironing boards to make ironing fast and really effortless with 100% cotton top layer, thick foam under layer which makes such a difference to help get all the creases out of the clothes as you iron. You also have the benefit on the cover giving you plenty of stretch ( with the no buckling design) on each item of clothing making it easier to get a fast crisp finish. So confident are Brabantia in their products that they also offer a 10 year guarantee with each and every ironing board. With an easily adjustable height (from 61 to 102 cm) and extra large working surface (135 x 45 cm) it leaves plenty of room for even the largest steam irons, and if that isn’t enough the iron even comes with it’s own heat resistant iron pad which is fully mobile as it is totally separate from the ironing board itself.
Giveaway To Win a Nature Inspired Brabantia Ironing BoardWith My Family Ties Blog

Having tried out the ironing board myself (take a look at the pretty Botanical design in the photos) I have realised just how much time I was wasting plugging away at my old ironing board! The Brabantia design does make it so much easier to get through the weekly family ironing (ever increasing!) as it’s simple to set up, has plenty of room for even the largest family iron, is fully adjustable for different heights and the cotton fabric makes ironing laundry much easier as it ‘grips’ the material so you can pull it taut to iron. It also benefits from a cable tidy and a child safety lock to ensure there are no accidents while getting through the weekly laundry.

As the ironing boards are adjustable for different heights and are very sturdy once in place too, this would have been just perfect for my gran as she liked to iron sitting down at table height, she just couldn’t find a suitable ironing board to accommodate. She used to have lots of laundry including my granddads shirts and suit trousers to iron and found it tiring doing the ironing on her feet for so long. Sot his would have been the ideal solution as it is adjustable height-wise and so sturdy.  Another feature she would have really benefited from would be the large worktop area as her ironing board never quite fitted enough of the items as she would have liked.

I do like the fact the ironing board is easy to fold away and store and also that it has protective non-slip plastic caps to make sure there is no damage to the flooring. As a mother of two, it’s the little things that make me happy and getting through the pile of laundry faster is right up there! The Brabantia ironing board has helped cut down on ironing time and also given a better finish with the clever board design. Iron when the laundry is still slightly damp as it makes it quicker and easier to iron

  3. June 2, 2016 / 2:11 pm

Don't let washing get too dry before ironing it – it is easier to iron out creases when slightly damp.

  4. June 2, 2016 / 2:14 pm

Would love Botanical please. And my tip is to have a spray bottle handy, give a quick squirt to overdry clothes to loosen creases and roll for a few minutes before ironing.Leave to air on the clothes horse until all is done.

  5. June 2, 2016 / 2:17 pm

my top tip is 'little but often' – Ironing can be so overwhelming so I try to do a bit at a time each evening whilst watching TV otherwise I end up with a never ending pile!

  6. June 2, 2016 / 2:29 pm

I like the floral one – the Pink Santini!

  7. June 2, 2016 / 2:35 pm

I think I'd choose the Botanical but they are all very pretty. No ironing tips here – I do it as little as possible 😀

Iron it as soon as you bring it in from the line – if I leave it in the laundry basket it is there for ages as not my favourite job I am afraid. Like the butterfly design

  9. June 2, 2016 / 3:36 pm

Iron in front of the TV or listening to music or you will shrivel up from boredom. Maybe that's just me?

  10. June 2, 2016 / 4:01 pm

Always use a linen spray, it makes it easier to iron, and the clothes smell lovely.

  11. Amanda Jaggard
    June 2, 2016 / 4:19 pm

Raspberry design for me and with ironing shirts -I always do sleeves, collar, shirt in that order!

I'd choose the Raspberry Design!! It would brighten up my kitchen!

  14. June 2, 2016 / 5:16 pm

My wife loves the barley, and loves ironing! She finds it to be very therapeutic. She wears an iron out in a year, and our current ironing board is beginning to rust! Her tip is to make sure you have plenty of steam!

  15. Susan Smith
    June 2, 2016 / 5:19 pm

When i do the ironing, i always have a spray bottle with water in, to spray some clothes that need either a good crease or have got to dry

  16. Susan B
    June 2, 2016 / 5:35 pm

The Mint Botanical would be lovely. My best advice for ironing is to take the clothes and linen off the washing line or dryer while damp and iron right away.

  17. June 2, 2016 / 6:00 pm

My tip is to keep the top button done up when washing jeans and trousers. The bum keeps the shape and they're much easier to iron.

  18. June 2, 2016 / 6:16 pm

love the flower 1- nice & bright.

  25. June 2, 2016 / 8:46 pm

just stay on top of it, the moment you get behind its hard to get ahead.

  28. June 2, 2016 / 10:34 pm

I like them all but I think I would have the Raspberry Design. My top tip would be to do a bit everyday to keep the ironing pile down 🙂

  29. June 2, 2016 / 10:52 pm

My favourite is the Botanical, I love the Dragonflies! My partner is ex-forces and has always insisted that he irons a lot better than me, so I let him do it!

  32. June 3, 2016 / 2:36 am

Don't be like me and let it build to Mount Everest size proportions

  33. June 3, 2016 / 5:44 am

Loving the pink dragonfly ironing board!!

  34. June 3, 2016 / 6:06 am

I like the floral design. I always find that it's easier to iron clothes just before they are completely dry and always on the same day they are washed.

  35. June 3, 2016 / 6:11 am

My top tip is to iron as you go, no need to spend two hours with a huge ironing pile just iron what you wish to wear the night before.

  39. Spencer Broadley

This will be controversial – I am a man, but I always iron my own shirts, because over the years I have never found a woman who can iron them correctly!!! I ended up having to re-ironing when I wanted one. So men get your fingers out and help with the ironing!!!

  40. June 3, 2016 / 8:07 am

I would choose the butterfly design

  47. June 3, 2016 / 9:51 am

Yes the Botanical is really fresh and lovely x

  48. June 3, 2016 / 9:58 am

I'd choose botanical. As far as ironing is concerned, i make phonecalls that I need to make, it makes the time go so much more quickly when you are talking on the phone at the same time

  49. June 3, 2016 / 11:12 am

Sort clothes according to temperature, working from coolest to hottest. Iron silks and synthetics on low to medium heat (approximately 350°F), wool on medium to high, and cotton and linens at high temperatures (400°F to 425°F). Since the right temperature is critical, let the iron sit for a few minutes after you have adjusted the controls.

  50. June 3, 2016 / 11:14 am

I'd choose the Raspberry design, it's lovely! 🙂

  51. lugworm

  64. June 4, 2016 / 5:07 pm

I like the blue and pink dragonfly design. Im in desperate need of a new ironing board as my cover has ripped but I just resent spending my small amount of money one!

    Tips are
*If you have duvet covers to iron, drape them over the ironing board neatly and use them as an extra ironung board cover, moving it every 3 items or so, then you will iron that at the same time as the rest of your pile.
    * a friend told me do 1 load of laundry a day and iron 1 load everyday then it will not seem so bad
    * Always do it watching a TV show with a big cup of coffee

  65. June 4, 2016 / 5:14 pm

I like the one with dragonflies that you featured!

  66. June 4, 2016 / 5:25 pm

  68. Lindsay Taylor

  87. June 8, 2016 / 9:06 am

I like the botanical one. My tip is sort clothes into piles of linen, cotton and synthetics, this prevents clothes being ruined by ironing them whilst the iron is on a hotter setting which doesn't suit the material.

Ironing the washing whilst it’s still slightly damp makes it much easier and gives a better result. Then hang it up straight away to air before putting away. I love the botanic design.

if you are ironing a good quality cotton shirt take them out of the washing machine shake and hang them up and iron them whilst wet as it takes 5 minutes per shirt rather than 25 minutes per shirt trying to iron them when they are dry (i learnt from experiencing my son’s work shirts)

    July 12, 2016 / 12:12 pm

The Dragonfly design would be my choice x

    July 14, 2016 / 12:30 am

All the designs are lovely, but I think I like the raspberry one the best. I always use scented ironing water bought from the supermarket, makes the iron last longer without the need for descaling, and makes clothes smell lovely.

  151. Suzanne Howell
    July 14, 2016 / 8:41 am

All the designs are lovely but if I had to choose then the Botanical design. My tip is that I put some music on while ironing, it makes it a more pleasant task. Another tip is to get a good quality ironing board – mine is too small so it makes ironing fiddly, plus it won’t fold up – it’s gone rusty and stiff so I have to have it permanently up in my spare room.

The Botanicals design featuring the lovely dragonflies really appeals. So much more cheerful than my silver grey covered board which has given over forty years of faithful service and deserves retirment.

  173. Catriona Hutchinson
    July 15, 2016 / 9:40 pm

If it were up to me, I would choose the botanical print, but given my boyfriend does allllllllll the ironing it would be his choice, ultimately! No ironing tips from me – as I am dreadful at ironing – but my better half says: steam, steam and more steam.

The one with the butterflies on please. The last time I bought an ironing board was in 1980 when I got married it’s still going strong, I think it must be a Brabantia.

I love the dragonfly with the berries! My ironing tip is to do it outside in the sunshine when possible, that makes it a lot more bearable and airs the clothes as you iron

  206. Gerri Tennant
    July 16, 2016 / 7:56 pm

Hang things on coat hangers to dry or fold immediately they are taken off the line to cut down on ironing.

  207. Fiona jk42
    July 16, 2016 / 7:58 pm

They are all pretty. my favourite is the Raspberry. My tip is if you are partial to those scented ironing waters available at posh shops, but not so fond of their prices, then it’s easy to make your own. A sliver of orange or lemon peel in a spray bottle gives a nice citrus scent, or add several crushed rose petals if you prefer floral scents. For best results, add these the day before you intend to do the ironing, to give the scents time to infuse.

  208. Natalie Crossan
    July 16, 2016 / 8:38 pm

I like the raspberry, my top tip is to do a little every time you have a spare 30 mins. Otherwise, it builds up and becomes overwhelming. I also really love the vapour water you can buy from Asda, tesco etc (only about £1 a litre) – they give your clothes that lovely fresh straight from the machine smell xx

    July 16, 2016 / 8:46 pm

Dragonfly is my choice.. I always iron while clothes are damp you get a better finish.

  210. Rachel B

  213. July 16, 2016 / 10:40 pm
