Last night we were so very thrilled to have invitations to the launch of Hogwarts In The Snow with Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour a fantastic and very festive seasonal change to the regular scenery (could it get even better?!) in the foyer as soon as you walk in you are presented with a beautifully dressed huge Christmas tree that sets the scene perfectly. Hogwarts In The Snow will run until the 31st January so plenty of time to visit to experience the festive make-over and find out all the tips and tricks that the behind the scenes crew worked so hard to create the magical Harry Potter series of films. We were fortunate to be one of the first visitors to be able to see the new festive addition, and although we were on the tour from 5.30pm until 10pm we could have stayed for hours it was so much fun!
Any fan of the Harry Potter films would have been thrilled to see the launch last night and as we have two daughters who live and breathe Harry Potter, the night was hotly anticipated in our house as you can imagine! All the authentic props and scenes from the iconic films are displayed at the attraction and with the magic of the Hogwarts In The Snow the addition of festive inspired decoration (and snow when you reach the Magic Bus and Privet Drive outside!) throughout the tour. We were treated to not only the visual feast of all that the Harry Potter Studio Tour has to offer but also the wonder of a festive make over – Hogwarts style.
We felt very Christmassy as we started the tour and as we had refreshments in the main foyer I was treated to a fabulous vodka cocktail that took my daughters breath away! (I mean visually – not that they tried it!) my OH was so disappointed he was the designated driver and opted for a soft drink with the girls. If you have been before you will know that the whole experience is a Potter fans dream, and once you are on the tour prepare to be dazzled with everything you have seen on the films and more. I have added a lot of photo’s as they night was just so unforgettable and I wanted to show the attraction in all it’s glory. Once the doors were opened to the Great Hall you can truly see the festive transformation at it’s best, with eight magnificent Christmas trees lining the room, and make sure you look out for the flaming Christmas Puddings that really set the festive scene.
With opportunities to have photo’s taken as you make your way though the tour they make a wonderful souvenir to remember your visit and with the beginning of Hogwarts In The Snow you can opt for a Winter scene like the photo above of my daughter Lara riding around on a broomstick, although there are other options and even a photo inside Ron’s flying car. When we reached the Hogwarts Express we re-fuelled with some delicious canapés, before checking out platform 9 3/4 and the girls were just thrilled to be able to actually board the train! The last time we visited the Hogwarts Express wasn’t added and it’s a wonderful addition to the tour where you can inspect the train, shop in the gift shop and have a photo taken in the especially made ‘carriages’ to buy and take home as a memento.
I must just point out that if at any point during your visit you have a question about anything (Harry Potter related or not) the very knowledgable staff are never far away to answer your queries. All the staff are Harry Potter fans and this really comes across, nothing is too much trouble and we learned a lot about the make-up tricks and CGI they used in the making of the films and how they realistically made the snow and ice, amongst other new information.
The staff made the whole experience even better as their exuberance and knowledge of the Harry Potter series fuelled our interest even more, so a big thank you to all the staff for making the evening so wonderful. We left inspired to watch the movies all over again and we are already planning a return visit to the wonder that is Hogwarts in The Snow, a fantastic evening and a truly unforgettable tour. Thank you Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour we shall see you again soon!
