The Irish Fairy Door Review

Making Magic Happen

I’ve written before about how much my girls love all there is to know about fairies so we were delighted when we were given the opportunity to review a delightful Fairy Door from The Irish Fairy Door Company. These magical doors open up a world of imagination to children and are a lovely idea to gift and open a portal for your own special fairy to come and go through their very own door.

What You Get In Each Fairy Door Box

  • 1 X Fairy door
  • 1 X Contract for all the family to sign
  • 1 X Set of stepping stones for your fairy
  • 1 X Key for the fairy to come and go as they please
  • 1 X Book To Learn All About Your Fairy
  • 1 X Little notepad for fairy messages

Each door has been carefully handmade with every detail considered, and since the company was founded 150,000 fairies have found new homes through these lovely little doors worldwide. Once we had the delivery of the door all that was left to do was to find the right place for the little door to be placed and then register the fairies name on the website. There’s plenty of inspiration for fairy names if you get a little stuck and the whole process is really quick.

Once you have registered the name you need to leave the little key outside the Fairy Door before bed and your very own fairy will find her way and take the key during the night. Lara was enchanted by the whole idea firstly of naming her fairy and then eagerly anticipating the visit from ‘Bella’ (her very own fairy) overnight. When morning came she was so thrilled to see that ‘Bella’ had taken the key and let herself in to her new door.

There is plenty of information on the website if your child wants to learn a little more about what the fairies like to do and the best way to treat them too. Also the contract that comes with every door outlines exactly what humans are expected to do to make sure all the family respects the fairy’s, all the family have to sign the contract and agree to follow all the fairy rules.

Since ‘Bella’ has been coming and going in Lara’s room she has received lots of little notes from Lara using the tiny fairy notebook that comes with the fairy door. As suggested on the website Lara has also been leaving raisins for the little fairy as it’s said to be a favourite food, and every morning when she checks the door she has been really happy to see that ‘Bella’ has taken the raisin to eat.

I think the fairy doors are a brilliant idea…you can pick up other unusual items on ebay too. I've gotten a little bird bath and little broom. I leave additional bits every other week.
