It’s that time of year again when temperatures plummet and the focus is well and truly on clothing and footwear that perform, so when I was given the opportunity to review the Expedition Tech Jacket from Scruffs I was delighted. If you have difficulty buying gifts as I do for the man in your life, you really can’t go wrong with an item of clothing that they will wear again and again that really focuses on performance in the elements, especially my partner who is always out and about no matter what the weather.
The hooded jacket itself is unisex so would suit both men and women who like the outdoors and benefits from being very lightweight as well as protecting you against the elements. What I always look for when I buy outdoor gear for my family is products that protect and also have multi functions, and I can tell you this jacket is packed full of handy very well thought out features. It is important to stay warm and dry and this is achieved by the breathable (up to 10,000g) lined waterproof 3M Thinsulate jacket, which is comfortable and surprisingly soft and once on is not restrictive or bulky at all.
With an impressive 8 pockets inside and out side the jacket you can store all the essentials you need on a walk in the elements, making sure it all stays waterproof and safe. A feature which is genius is the added room for the addition of a very useful torch with a PU panel, tucked away in the front breast pocket to access when you need it, just don’t forget to add a battery! On the opposite breast pocket you will find a velcro patch which you could add a company logo to or if this is a gift idea why not add the recipients initials for a lovely personal touch.
It’s a combination of the excellent quality in performance and the little touches and features of this jacket that make it such a great buy, and at £84.95 I think it is good value for such an investment piece. To really keep the cold out as well as being lined you have protection from the adjustors on the cuffs and on the hem of the jacket, and the hood also has adjustors which really make a difference when it is windy and rainy.
What a brilliant gift this makes and I have wrapped it up and put in under the tree for my OH this Christmas and I’m sure he will love it, as he is a triathlon loving man and always out and about training when he is not at work.
