Penwizard Book Review – My Family Ties

The Snowman and The Snowdog

It’s my go-to gift for the girls at Christmas a personalised book is such a great gift idea and I just love to see their faces as I read out their own names in the story! This book review from Penwizard couldn’t have come at a better time as we have had a few days of rain the ideal time to spend some time together reading Lara’s favourite books.

What I noticed about the process of ordering the book was it is really simple, which I really value as when I am ordering one or more at Christmas I am quite often harassed and not good at lengthy form filling! My top tip as you do fill out your child’s details is to fill it all out and then just go back to the beginning and double check your entries to ensure you have all the right information.

There is so much choice on the Penwizard website with all different tastes accounted for that it really is easy to find one suitable for your child. I chose the hardback version of The Snowman and the Snowdog for Lara at £24.99 but it’s also available in softback for £17.99. once you have chosen the book and if you prefer hard or softback you can fill in your child’s first and last name and if you require a personal message to go on the first page. A really special touch as Lara loved to see a loving message from me and her dad as she opened up the book.

Next you can select hair colour, skin colour, gender, the colour of the clothes and if they wear glasses or not. Lara was thrilled to bits to see the illustrated ‘her’ with blond hair and glasses too! That’s it, very easy and it gives you a preview to make sure there are no typo’s on your personalised book then takes you to the checkout. It only took a few days for the book to arrive with much excitement from Lara, she opened the parcel up to see her name on the front of the book which she couldn’t quite believe!

The Snowman and the Snowdog based upon the characters created by Raymond Briggs is a lovely story to read aloud with your child, with 32 beautifully illustrated colour pages we thoroughly enjoyed sitting down to read this. It’s made extra special with all the personal mentions of your child and every time we have read it, it really never get’s old as it is a thrill for Lara to hear that her name is being read aloud in the Snowman and the Snowdog story.

A personalised book from Penwizard makes for a very special, lovely gift for your child one that you can both cherish as you read it together even my teen was happy to sit and listen to the story as it was so lovely and personal. Reading has always been a love of mine and reading with my children is one of my favourite times of the day, it helps us to bond and to have some quiet time together and although my teen Siobhan is a little too old now she still loves to listen to a story being read to Lara.

To be able to engage my girls with a personalised book like this one is wonderful and I think this would make a fantastic gift idea for young readers, giving time together to read the story and bond and also encourage your child to read alone the adventures with them as the star of the story.

This is the perfect Christmas gift for a child. It's something they will cherish forever as it's very personal to them. I much rather give a gift like this than a toy that's going to either get broken or forgotten about.
Great review and I love your blog 🙂
