I posted yesterday about my teen turning 16 next week and my ideas for a Sweet 16 Birthday Gift Guide and one of the items was this luxury bath oil from Olverum. I wanted to share my thoughts about the bath oil as it’s one of my favourite new discoveries. I love natural products and with sensitive skin I do have to be careful what I use so this blend was perfect for my skin and gentle enough to use on the whole family. Finding such a clean, fresh scent has made this such a pleasure to use and I can see it being a firm favourite in our house.
Olverum was created in 1931 in Germany directly from the discovery of the therapeutic properties of essential oils. Once developed the bath oil boasted 10 natural essential oils to help relax and cleanse and has gained a loyal following ever since. Take a look at the list of natural essential oils below each one selected for their beneficial qualities on the mind and body. Now available in the UK and having had a re-brand and a re-launch this year it is readily available for us Brits all to try.
The 10 Essential Oils Within the Bath Oil Are:
- Lemon Peel
- Siberian Fir Needle
- Exotic Verbena
The scent is intoxicating and really does fill the room with a wonderfully relaxing fragrance when you are running a bath. You only need a few drops into the bath each time as a little goes a long way and the beauty of the bath oil is not only can you use it in the bath but also directly onto the skin as a massage medium. The oil is not a heavy cloying oil but a light non-greasy oil that works by absorbing into the skin rather that sitting on the skin and feeling as if there is an oily film. Once you have used it for the first time there is no turning back! You will be hooked! It reminds me of the Aromatherapy Associates bath oils as they have a similar nature of absorbing into the skin and hydrating with natural oils.
As well as softening, hydrating the skin and having 10 essential oils to soothe and relax you having a bath with the oil helps to soothe away any aches, stresses and strains and is very effective for sore muscles and joints. I tried bathing with Olverum before I went to bed and I have to say it helped me to have a really peaceful deep sleep, the scent of the essential oils is intoxicating and very relaxing but also smells very clean and fresh. I love the scent of citrus oils (I use them within massage mediums myself for clients) to uplift and cleanse and I think that scent really comes through.
One key point I must make is that it is a totally unisex scent and in fact my OH really liked the fragrance, and the simple clean design of the bottle and the packaging would be a perfect purchase for both men and women. At £23.50 for 125ml I do think it offers good value for money as this gives you enough bath oil for 25 baths, available from Harvey Nichols, Fenwick, House of Fraser Online and the Olverum website.
