My Oldest Friend – A Gift To Treasure

Our youngest daughter has quite a collection of soft toys but by far her favourite and one of her very first toys is a tiny (and a little worse for wear!) stuffed cow. ‘Moo’ is small enough to take everywhere with her and is dinky enough that sometimes it ends up getting lost (usually in the living room) and we all end up searching for it as she can’t sleep without it. If your child has one of these precious toys, or a special blanket perhaps you will understand just how important it can be to make sure you have it somewhere safe every day to avoid that dreaded search just before bedtime! When we were given the opportunity to review a framed photo from My Oldest Friend  it was easy to choose which special toy to include in the ‘photo-shoot’, as ‘Moo’ really is her favourite little toy and if you take a look at the website you can see the various different sizes and types of toys that the fabulous team have captured so well.

My Oldest Friend – The Process

It really is a unique and bespoke service from My Oldest Friend and nothing is too much trouble to help you decide exactly which design to go for and they are very aware how hard it is for your child to be away from their most treasured toy and always will strive to get your toy back in the arms of your child within 1-2 days, sooner if you live locally. Firstly you can decide which of the three styles you would prefer and if you are undecided all you need to do is contact the team at My Oldest Friend who are more than happy to guide you to the style most suited to your child’s toy.

Once you have made your decision on the finished style you need to take a look at the available days the team can photograph your child’s toy, you can either take the toy into the studio if you live locally or send via Royal Mail with their next day delivery (tracked and signed by 1pm) service. It’s hard for many kids to be away from such a special and beloved toy and the team are more than aware of this, so once the toy is safely in the studio they will prepare the photo-shoot and spend at least two hours arranging and photographing your child’s favourite toy to get the very best image they can.

The photo-shoot is of course just one step in the process but once it is over your child’s toy is posted back to you with the same tracked and signed for Royal Mail service and will be back with you in 1-2 days. Of course my daughter was missing her toy and was absolutely thrilled to receive her ‘Moo’ back safe and sound, she was just as thrilled to have a special postcard letting her know that her special toy was having a great time in the studio with a gorgeous beach holiday styled photo postcard, a wonderful touch that she now treasures.

The hard work for the team at My Oldest Friend is far from over once the photo-shoot has ended as next is the post processing and preparing the frame. In the post processing the charm of the toy is retained and enhanced and the character of your child’s toy is really brought out at it’s best. Once it is all perfect the finished photo is printed on quality paper, is carefully mounted and framed and wrapped in brown paper as well as protective bubble wrap, ready to post to you. You should receive your gorgeous framed print within 7-10 days after your toy has been posted back to you and every care is taken to ensure a safe journey with no breakages.

The Price

£149 for the finished piece plus postage and packaging.

Our Thoughts

We were so impressed with the finished print, it was beautifully wrapped and the framing is of a very high standard and looks amazing and most importantly our daughter is enchanted with her new piece of wall art with her most precious toy taking the starring role.  The print is 20 x 16 inches with a mount of 16 x 12 inches and with four finishes to choose from (contemporary black, antique pine, classic dark wood and pure white) you have plenty of choice to perfect your print. Our choice was contemporary black and it finished the print of so well, our daughter just loves the look and was so pleased to have such a quality photo for her to treasure.

The whole process was very smooth and carefully thought out and our daughter’s feelings were paramount to the team at My Oldest Friend as they are acutely aware it would be hard to be away from her favourite toy for a night or two. This would make a wonderful gift for a lucky child and as they also do gift vouchers a perfect idea to pop under the tree. It was such a smooth process from beginning to end and nothing was too much trouble for  the lovely folk at My Oldest Friend, they truly understand how much of a wrench it is for your child to be without their beloved toy. The finished piece is beautifully crafted and framed and ready to hang and even the smallest of toys (as our daughter’s was) is captured to it’s best light and really brought to life.

It’s a gift with a difference and what makes it unique is that it really doesn’t matter about the condition of your child’s toy, as they will bring out the best in the studio and enhance it in the post processing to show off all it’s characteristics at their best. A huge thank you to the friendly staff at My Oldest Friend for creating such a special and treasured framed print which our daughter now has to keep forever.
