Scull on display at Ripley's Believe it or not London

It’s a bit eerie but can you guess where we have been this weekend?

We have had a very interesting day in London visiting Ripley’s Believe it or not. It was our eldest daughter Siobhan’s 15th birthday this week and her request was to go to Ripley’s as a birthday treat. Siobhan loves the Ripley’s books which she puts on her Christmas list every without fail.  The books if you haven’t heard of them are full of fascinating information and facts about oddities from around the world and when Siobhan first picked one of the books up she was hooked.

Mainly because she loves factual books which she has an amazing ability to remember in great detail, and she doesn’t bore of them either as she reads them all over and over again.  I think having autism Siobhan finds facts and factual books a really safe and comforting pastime, and by that I mean she can recall the information, it always interests her, and it never alters (just like her love of history), and as it is updated every year she knows she will have more oddities to add to her repertoire every year.

With this it was a pleasure to be able to take her and her sister along this weekend to Ripley’s (I will be writing a post on our visit this week) where she could absorb the weird and wonderful up close and soak up all the amazing visual treats at the museum. She did of course have a great 15th with lots of books (and Lego !) and a great day to London to remember.

It’s a spooky photo but oddly beautiful with the carvings on the skull, what do you think?

I'd love to take the kids to Ripleys but it's a bit far for us, we live near Glasgow! The kids love the books.

I agree I think that the photograph is beautiful, I looked it up because it is fascinating and it is a death decorated skull from Brazillian indians..
