In November I reviewed the first Look Incredible beauty box and what a great introduction it turned out to be. It was really good to see full sized products included in the new beauty box offering and with a little fine tuning each month, the Look Incredible team are set to deliver better results month on month taking customer feedback into account. With this fine tuning they have changed their name formally called Smarzprice they are now called Look Incredible – Feel Gorgeous (www.lookincredible.co.uk) I can see also they have altered the quality of the box itself, and as a customer I feel this makes all the difference as when I receive a new beauty box, the anticipation of what’s inside is high, and a well presented box makes all the difference.
At £18.99 per month for the subscription you really do get value for money and with such a competitive market for beauty boxes, us as consumers have such a great choice out there, and for me finding such great value and with full sized products to boot this beauty box is a real diamond. The total value of January’s Look Incredible beauty box is £87.49 and it really doesn’t disappoint on quality of product or value in my opinion.
Bare Minerals Redness Remedy Full Sized £27.00
I was so happy to see this product included as I have suffered from a very rosy complexion all my life, so when I choose make-up the first choice for me is a really effective base to conceal and smooth my skin tone, while not looking to heavy or caked on! The 5g tub inside the box comes with a double ended anti-bacterial treated soothing compress brush, which is so soft on the skin. My only very small gripe was when I removed the packaging there was some glue stuck to the larger brush which took me a while to remove as it has adhered to a clump of the bristles. A small problem, but I felt it worth mentioning in case this was a common problem other customers had come across.
The powder is bright yellow! Don’t be scared to use it as it’s very common for yellow hues to be used to counteract the redness in the skin. All you need to do is tap a little of the powder into the lid and swirl the powder onto the brush and apply in a circular motion where needed. As with many of the Bare Minerals products the Redness Remedy is a combination of a treatment (using ActivSoil Complex) as well as helping to conceal any redness. I used it on my face and neck and I’m happy to say it has worked so well for me. I must stress that the product is actually sold as more of a treatment than a solution for redness such as a concealer, as it soothes and evens tone over time.
After using for a week I have noticed that using before foundation (I use Bare Minerals powder foundation) it does soothe effectively, gives slight coverage with it’s yellow hue and over time the product claims it can even out skin tone and reduce overall redness where needed. If you are looking for coverage I would say this isn’t going to give you that alone, pair with your foundation and use and over time you will notice a change as the treatment helps to reduce the redness while soothing the skin at the same time. As redness treatments and solutions are products I’m always looking out for, this addition and the £18.99 for the beauty box was worth it for this product alone.
Bare Minerals Flawless Lash Mascara £17.00
I’m a bit of a mascara horder! Always looking for the next best one so I was glad to see this new offering from Bare Minerals in the beauty box which claims to give no clumps and blacker than black definition. The intense black colour claims to give ultimate definition and separation to the lashes and the wand rather than being a tradition brush has small ‘comb’ effect tapering at the end, this gives greater control when trying to isolate lashes especially hard to get to lashes and I loved the results on the lower lashes as they looked dark but natural too.
I wasn’t keen on the scent, it’s very strong but thankfully doesn’t last once applied. The combination of beeswax, jojoba seed oil and shea butter do make the mascara give a silky finish and I am a fan of the intense black. Once applied you can ditch the need for your eyelash comb as it really does give a clump free finish, and the look is build-able for a more intense look. The only downside I can see is the initial scent and after just over a week of using it has dried out slightly so perhaps won’t have the longevity of some of my favourites.
Essie Steeling The Scene £8.50
This pearlised offering from Essie looks great and two to three coats are all you need to get the pretty colour ‘Steel-ing The Scene’ to look it’s best. It’s called a ‘burnished pewter’ but for me it’s a mix of silver and fresh green and gives a really pretty pearlised effect. It’s very wearable and both my teenage daughter and I loved that it’s an every day colour which gives a great finish.
Laura Geller Baked Impressions Blush £10.00
This blush is in ‘Mauve Mocha Latte’ and is quite a big size and has a bonus mini mirror in the inside of the lid which I love, so very handy and perfect for adding to your handbag to re-apply through the day. I don’t wear a lot of blush products, and the main thing I really liked about the finish was the subtlety of it. You can build it up for a more intense look or or just apply a little to the apples of the cheeks for a natural blush.
It’s not designed as such but it does double up as a very pretty eye-shadow and I’m all for finding beauty products which have multi-use. The blush gives a matte finish with the slightest sheen and I have to say I really like the subtle finish.
YSL Lip Twins £24.99
In the iconic and instantly recognisable gold packaging the Lip Twins from Yves Saint Laurent come with two lip shades and a mirror in one. you can wear the ‘Satin’ shade and the ‘Brilliant shine’ together or separately and the addition of the mirror is handy. There is only one thing missing for me and that’s a lip brush.
While I love the nifty design and the fact you get two shades in one, I would only apply the lipsticks with a lip brush as it’s tricky to apply with fingertips and much more hygienic to apply with a brush as well. So for me I loved the colours and the design but not without a decent lip brush to pair it with.
So there you have it the great line up for this month’s Look Incredible box and it really has made me hungry to see next month’s offerings already! Great value for £18.99 and the commitment to listening their customers opinions only makes me warm to them even more, if you have a problem or a suggestion the Look Incredible team are more than happy to take them on board to shape their beauty box, and make it better and I feel that is the sign of a company that wants to move forward in a positive way.
After all it’s all about what the customer wants to see, we buy the boxes and I can say from personal experience when you find it hard to communicate with a brand (e.g. they won’t answer your queries/questions/problems with products in the boxes) it can put you off spending your hard earned cash on their beauty boxes. For me this is fast becoming one of my favourite beauty boxes and I’m really looking forward to February’s box.
