I love to try new beauty products and keep up with new beauty and skincare trends so when Smartzprice sent out their latest collection for the Look Incredible beauty box I was really looking forward to see what was included. I have tried so many beauty subscription and one-off boxes over the last year and although it is lovely to try small sample sized products, I have to say that it is great to see full sized products that are all so useable and of course last a lot longer.
Yes that’s right, full sized! What you get within the subscription box is 4-5 full sized beauty products for £18.99 each month this month’s selection contained beauty and nail products, but expect to see a good mix of skincare, make-up and haircare products added over the next months as well.
1. Essie Let It Shine Top Coat £9.99
It’s always best to finish a manicure with a top coat as it makes the polish look glossy and last so much better, and this offering from Essie is an ideal formula to set the look which dries very quickly. Essie have a whole range of nail products and I have used many before with great success, I particularly liked the fact that this top coat dried so fast and the slightly thinner formula was very easy to apply.
2. Dolce & Gabbana The LipGloss Cannella £21.00
I was really happy to see a Dolce & Gabbana product in the box and as I use lipgloss all the time I knew it would get loads of use. The colour I got in the box is not a shade I would usually choose as it is so dark and rich, but for a night out it is lovely but I would like to have had a lighter everyday colour if I could have chosen.
Once applied the lipgloss stays on really well and the colour is highly pigmented, the scent of the gloss is so lovely and I know this shouldn’t really matter but it makes it so memorable! The texture of the gloss is quite smooth and not tacky at all and I was surprised just how long it lasted before re-applying. Now that I have tried the lipgloss I really am looking forward to trying one of the other shades as they have an impressive 28 shades to choose from.
3. Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Day Treatment SPF 20 Sheer Fair £45.00
I have written before about my really positive experiences with Bare Minerals products so I was keen to try this Day Treatment with an impressive SPF 20. It’s so beneficial to me to find make-up with added SPF as it is a consideration when I am choosing any cosmetics to protect my skin from sun damage. I have tried the Pure Transformations Night treatment and loved the results so I was really looking forward to see if this would be as beneficial.
Once you unscrew the lid you will find holes at the top (covered by a protective film) which you can shake out the powder into the lid to apply. The best way to apply the powder is to tip a little into the lid and swirl a brush (I used the Kabuki Brush that was in the beauty box) tap the excess off and swirl over the face (and neck if needed) re-applying where you need it. What makes this different is that rather than being drying on the skin, it hydrates throughout the day with the active minerals and ActiveSoil Complex and the anti-ageing claims are due to the fact it helps with cell turnover.
I thought the finish was natural and the fact you can apply more until you are satisfied with the finish is great and doesn’t look overdone at all once on the skin. It has a slight iridescent look to it and the Sheer Fair colour was ok for my pale skin tone but I would like to try a shade slightly darker next time. It is on the pricey side if you were to buy separately so it was great to try as part of this beauty box, I did like the finish and having used it with such good results I would actually buy this again possibly in place of the mineral foundation I currently use.
4. Bare Minerals Flat Top Kabuki Brush
I am putting this brush in as the next item on the list but really it comes as a duo with the Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Day Treatment, so I feel the two don’t really deserve to be seem as two items but as one. When you buy the Day Treatment powder (above) you get the Flat Top Kabuki brush each time as well so I would say look at both the Bare Minerals products as one.
Not that I don’t value the brush, it’s perfect for applying powder and mineral powder foundation, so soft on the face and the silky bristles feel perfect for application. Easy to clean and compact too as there is no long brush to consider so this makes it really good for adding to your make-up bag and into your handbag if needed. I do value little things like this as I love to find cosmetics that are versatile and portable enough to take with you on the go without too much trouble.
5. Nails Inc 10ml Nail Polish Hanover Square £11.00
Nails Inc is a brand I have bought and loved many times and I have even bought some little sets for both my daughters too, so the addition of the gorgeous Hanover Square was very welcome to me. A deep rich colour perfect for this time of year which looks very glossy and smooth and two coats are all you need to look perfectly polished.
I’m always one for adding to my Nails Inc collection when I see a freebie with a magazine and the collaboration with Glamour magazine on the box of this product makes me think perhaps that this may have been a limited edition for this purpose. Don’t let it detract from the polish though as the quality and finish of it is as you would imagine from Nails Inc and the colour is gorgeous.
I have been really impressed with the products in the November box and I’m really looking forward to see what will be in the December box, something festive themed perhaps? With so much choice of subscription beauty boxes it’s hard to find a box that ‘fits’ your tastes and budget and I feel that the Look Incredible box offers very good value for money, with some top quality useable products inside and for £18.99 you are getting excellent value for money. As with most of the beauty boxes available, each month is a surprise to see what products you will receive and I like the anticipation and judging from the quality of the November box the next box should be worth waiting for.
