Kat Von D: Limited Edition – London Calling

It’s here! The hotly anticipated Kat Von D range and I spotted this cute mini set had been released in Debenhams so I couldn’t wait to buy my own and test it out. I opened up the set and the packaging is just perfect (think dark and gothic) and if this is an indication of what’s to come when the full launch comes then count me in! Expect to see a flood of Kat Von D talk on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as products hit the shelves, I have already seen plenty of talk about this dinky little set online and it’s pretty unanimous – we love it! This Kat Von D London Calling mini set has really made me excited for the full launch later on next month – and have you seen the gorgeous gothic styled brushes!

If you are keen to keep up to date with all product launches then keep an eye on the Debenhams website and social sites for all the important dates. Having had a look at the (gorgeous!) Kat Von D collection on sale in the States I have high hopes it will be AMAZING when it hits our shores. There are so many items I have my eye on and again the graphics and gothic design of each product look stunning. If you head over to her website she also has plenty of ‘How To’ videos with plenty of inspiration for using her products.

So on to the UK’s first taste of her beauty line in the form of London Calling – Fearless Favourites, a trio of eye and lip products all mini enough to pop in your handbag and take them everywhere with you for re-applying during the day. When I say that it’s slightly redundant as they have real longevity once applied, the liner stays put all day and both lip products for up to 5 hours – even with eating and drinking.

What Are The Trio Like To Apply & To Wear?

Each product in the London Calling set are mini marvels as they are very wearable and easy to apply. If you are a little unsure how to apply the liner take a look at Kat’s video below for her top tips, but if you take it slowly and keep close to the lashes before you flick it out you really can’t go wrong. It’s a classic raven black Tattoo Liner with a matte finish and the precision tip makes for just perfectly lined eyes.  Combine this with a waterproof and transfer resistant highly pigmented formula and it has to be one of my favourites for application and longevity. The Tattoo Liner does claim to be a 24 hour wear product but I’m yet to try this feature out! Once you have applied the liner it dries fast which I like as there is little chance of ‘printing’ on the lid as you look up and the great thing is you can apply to top and bottom lash lines for a more intense look and vary the strength to your personal taste.

Have you tried out any Satin Lipsticks? I have tried a few and have really mixed results as some I really liked the colour but they just didn’t stay on long enough and others weren’t very pigment rich and looked quite Meh. With the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick from Kat Von D expect a very richly pigmented colour which is a very pretty dark pink which once on – stays put! when applying you have to be fast and apply carefully as it sets really quickly, in about 40 seconds to be precise. The formula you either love or hate. It’s a creamy texture that feels like a gloss as it goes on but dries very fast to a beautiful velvety satin finish. It feels very retro (being a matte finish) and the colour is so pigmented and stays put so well, only through habit did I reapply twice during the day as I assumed it would fade. The ‘Double Dare’ shade is a pretty pink rose/cocoa colour that would suit any complexion and I can see why it’s a bestseller in the States. I love this so much and can’t wait to discover her new shades when they are launched.

Long wear again with the Studded Kiss ‘Lolita’ Lipstick and the classic colour wears so well and combined with the gorgeous black studded look – it’s a thing of beauty! Once applied this will last and looks and feels velvety smooth, the pigment is rich as with the liquid lipstick and lasts throughout the day. The colour is a pink/brown and I have found it very wearable with my pale complexion.Again I did reapply a couple of times during the day to top up the colour but you don’t really need to as the pigment stays true and does last. Once applied it doesn’t feel sticky or tacky and the colour is gorgeous I am really looking forward to trying out more from her collection once they are available in the UK.

So there you have it the latest must-have makeup and although mini each will last well and become fast favourites, the how to video is below and head to Debenhams to buy the kit for yourself.

Take a look at this great video tutorial  from Kat Von D herself using the products and showing us how to get the perfect eye flick with her fabulous eye liner.
