Yesterday I posted about our thoughts on the HelloFresh delivery we had and our first recipe of Beef Roly Polys Mexican Style, a recipe which had been a huge hit with the whole family. I was really impressed at the ease of use of the whole process even taking into account my allergy to shellfish (much to my other half’s annoyance as he loves fish and shellfish!) and from point of order to serving up our evening meal was really straightforward and enjoyable. For me it feels like a food box to re-ignite a passion for cooking or start that passion up from scratch.
HelloFresh Family Box
Choosing the Family Box gave me the reassurance that the dishes would be free of too much spice and also be very balanced nutritionally. Don’t fret though as this doesn’t detract from the flavour we have tried two very delicious recipes over the last two days which have both been full of flavour. The recipes have been carefully chosen and tested by the HelloFresh chef’s and this care and attention really does come across not only in the tasty recipes but the fresh produce too. The prices for the Family Box range from £37.95 – £60.00 with free postage and if you have any allergies to certain foods you can adapt your choices, just speak to one of the customer service team as they are so helpful.
Spiced Chicken With Coconut Rice & Roasted Corn On The Cob
How delicious does this recipe sound!? I was so keen to try this out as I had a feeling it would be another mealtime winner and I was so right as the whole family really enjoyed it. While it does have a spice element to it it’s not a hot spice and our daughter’s really enjoyed it. As we did yesterday the girls helped me cook and the seven step recipe card made it easy to follow and I like the fact they include photos of the various steps too. 40 minutes later we had a tasty dish that while it didn’t resemble the photo on the recipe card exactly – it was pretty close and tasted so good.
It’s a recipe we will certainly make again as it’s so satisfying to see a dish which is a little different be so well received from the whole family. We found the whole process of making the Spicy Chicken very easy and as I had my two helpers with me in the kitchen we all got stuck in and helped prepare in all. I was really impressed with my youngest as she usually won’t eat sweetcorn (pet hate!) but did eat half of the roasted corn on the cob and realised that actually she liked it. It’s all a case of trial and error with foods as I have found children’s taste buds change and evolve as they do.
Another point to make is that it was reasonably quick to make (40 minutes) and that is important to me with two children often impatient to eat dinner and as the instructions are so clear it’s also easy for them to follow too. HelloFresh is certainly a food box which I would try again for a combination of the tasty food, convenience and for me a great chance to make the recipes with my children. From the price point I feel it offers good value for money and after each family meal (for four) we found we had generous left overs for the next day. So don’t think that the portion sizes are small as they are very generous – even for big eaters. It was such a lovely change of flavours and I really enjoyed the whole process, friendly customer service team, smooth delivery, easy to make and of course the most important – really tasty meals. Now it’s back to reality today and I’m off to decide what’s for dinner for the family tonight…!
