Celebrating 100 Years Of Magic
Disney On Ice started over 30 years ago bringing all your favourites from Disney to the stage, in a spectacular performance on ice. We are very excited to be going to a production in Birmingham next month as a family to review the performance thanks to the good people of Disney, and I can’t tell you just how thrilled my daughters are to be going, the anticipation is high in our house!
A fantastic, musical and spectacular show awaits us, it looks really perfect for families. I just know we will come away humming those unforgettable and recognisable tunes from the Disney classic’s. Will we be singing along to ‘A Whole New World” “Beauty and The Beast” and “Can You Feel The Love” ? Of course we will! This spectacular production looks like fun for the entire family no matter what your age, with the vibrant costumes, the memorable music of classic Disney films transformed, and relived though the choreographed theatre on ice.
Micky Mouse and Minnie Mouse guide the story through the performance to celebrate 100 years of Disney magic, with appearances from 65 of the most well known characters from the Disney classics.
Disney On Ice was born from the vision of Kenneth Feld in 1981, he wanted to bring the Disney classic’s to a life with a live performance on ice. His creative vision was to bring Disney’s magical films to the stage combining classic theatre with a unique twist, transforming the family theatre production into a spectacular all singing, all dancing, live skating on ice performance.
Kenneth Feld recognised that in many families, going to a huge exciting performance such as Disney On Ice, may be the first time, or the only time, that children may see such a show. So his ethos was, why not make this experience unforgettable, spectacular, and one of a kind.
While we are driving to the venue in Birmingham, I am going to spare a thought for the amazing production team behind the scenes at the Disney On Ice performance. Each time the production crew set up the show it takes them an incredible 10 – 14 hours, and I will spare a thought for the design team who made the costumes too as an amazing 1300 yards of fabric are used to make the costumes for Disney On Ice. Quite an astounding amount of time and planning is involved in the whole process of the production and performance of Disney On Ice, and I for one am really looking forward to experiencing the wonder and magic of Disney On Ice.
