I was so busy with the Christmas run-up that I didn’t manage to fit in my review of the December Cohorted Beauty Box and with a slight delay on the January box I thought I would share it now before the new box arrives. It was a brilliant collaboration with Michelle from Thou Shall Not Covet so I was confident it would be packed full of quality products perfect for any beauty lover. I always look forward to a carefully curated box from a beauty blogger such as Michelle as we all have our favourite brands and products and it’s great to find new ones and even re-discover old favourites too. The cost of the monthly Black Beauty Box edition is £35.00 & P&P and rather than the system they had prior, it is now subscription only.
Too Faced Soul Mates Ross & Rachel Blush Bronzer Full Sized £ 28.00
Too Faced is a brand I have only used over the last year, and it’s fair to say I have started to get quite a collection of their eyeshadows as they are so wearable! It was great to see this blush bronzer in the beauty box to fake a little sun-kissed look, it’s very easy to use just swirl a little on a large blusher/bronzer brush and apply and it’s a product you can gently build to get the look you want, which I like.
I have very pale skin so I have to be careful with bronzers as they can make my complexion look a little ‘muddy’ for want of a better word! What I liked about this blush bronzer is it’s subtle, and a little goes a long way. I can see why this product has a bit of a cult following, the packaging is gorgeous and the product will last you ages as you only need a little a time. If you want to use the blush and bronzer separately, the clever design of the product allows you to use both independently if you want to. Alternatively you can use them both for a blended look.
Another feature to mention is the gorgeous heart shape, which opens up to reveal the blush bronzer and a handy mirror too, so handy for applying and touching up throughout the day. A stand-out product that I was so happy to try.
Dot Marc Jacobs 1.2ml Sample Size
A favourite of mine so I was really happy to have a sample to pop in my handbag, the Dot Eau De Parfum is a beautiful scent of jasmine, red berries, vanilla and musk that is perfect for every day use. The bottle of the full sized perfume is so lovely and a perfect addition to any dressing table.
Nars Pure Sheer SPF Treatment Lara Full Sized £19.99
Nars have a line of multi-use products and I have some of their brilliant eye-pencils which easily double up as eye-shadows so I was keen to try the Sheer Treatment as my lips need a little TLC with all this cold weather. It contains SPF 15 and feels silky once applied without being sticky, which is perfect when it’s so windy as if you have longer hair like mine it won’t ‘stick’ to your lips! It has an attractive sheen once applied, and I have worn it alone and paired with a lipstick, both look lovely and I would recommend if you are looking for a lip-sheen with a treatment to improve the condition of your lips.
Nars Flat Concealer Brush No 7 Full Sized £20.50
Another addition from Nars is the No 7 concealer brush, such good quality, with super smooth nylon bristles and a must for perfectly applied concealer. What great value to have two wonderful products from Nars worth £40.49 combined included in the December Cohorted Beauty Box! I am so happy with this concealer brush and from past experience boy what a difference a good quality make-up brush makes to your finished make-up, well worth the expense or in this case fabulous value included in this beauty box.
MAC Satin Lipstick Rebel £15.50 Full Sized
I have a growing collection of MAC lipsticks mainly due to the fact you can’t beat the quality, they are richly pigmented, have longevity and are easy to apply so when I saw this addition I was thrilled. ‘Rebel’ is not a shade I would usually go for as it is quite dark and rich but for an evening out or just for a change it’s great to go out of my comfort zone.
If you are suffering with dry lips try this tip, gently brush your lips with a wet toothbrush to remove any dry skin, apply the Nars Sheer treatment first and then apply the MAC lipstick. If gives a much better result especially as it’s a darker colour which can be very unforgiving if you have dry patchy lips. The lipstick itself is creamy and glides on so beautifully, a great quality lipstick that would be a great addition to any make-up bag.
