Big Book Of Monster Fun Parragon Book Review

It’s our second month of being ‘Book Buddies’ with Parragon Books and this month saw a fun book for Halloween – My Big Book Of Monster Fun. We had a lot of fun reading the stories and filling out the pages and during the half term it was perfect timing that whiled away the hours with no technology anywhere near!

My girls love to read and I encourage it all the time I would much rather them spend a half hour with their noses in a book than on their Kindle’s which I have had to limit as they love to go on them so much!

Parragon Books The Big Book Of Monster Fun - Book Buddies

The book has a good mix of stories, games, colouring in and activities all which are monster based and Lara loved going through the book filling out all the pages. She particularly liked the fun colourful comic strip style of stories as well as the quizzes and colouring in. A lot of thought has gone into the design of the book too it even features rounded edges on the pages so that children won’t have any pointy pages (Lara hates them!) to annoy them. The pages are thick and much less likely to rip and all the pages are clearly numbered with large numbers.

Book Contents Pages:

Scaredy Boo (fun monster story)
Monster Activities (full of fun colourful activities to work out and colour in)
Monster colouring ( fun spooky pages to colour in)
T-Rex Terror (a fun T-rex story in comic strip style)
Dinosaur Activities (quizzes and puzzles to fill in)
Dinosaur Colouring (Dinosaur pictures to colour in)
Answers (if you get stuck on anything all the answers are in these pages)

Although Lara did really enjoy the book (she is 9) I think this book is aimed at age 6 and under and with 190 pages to play with there is plenty to do to keep the kids interested. There are lots of puzzles and quizzes to do as well as colouring in using imagination to draw your own monsters too. There are plenty of ‘learn through play’ pages which help them with simple maths and it’s always great to have a helping hand and encouragement with maths skills.

We got on really well with this months book as it is so varied giving little chance for the kids to get bored with the book as they can skip from reading to colouring in to a fun quiz.  You can find the book at a really good price for what you get inside at The Works and WH Smiths both selling it for under £5.00. Another great book from Parragon books I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s in store for next month.

Available now from The Works and WH Smiths
