Bernard Matthews Meals- My Family Ties

Family Meals With Bernard Matthews

Whether I like it or not we have an extremely busy life, between the four of us we have approximately 20 – 25 hours of sports to fit in a week, and over half of that is our girls alone. As a mum, just like any other mum out there, I am always on the look out for quick, tasty, nutritious meals for our girls.  But as a family we are not really into processed or fast food on the whole, however sometimes we just have to compromise with time verses home baked meals.

One thing that is always a huge benefit to meal times as any parent will agree, is finding a meal that you can whip up in no time to serve when they children are hungry and impatient. This is the solution, the Bernard Matthews range can go from freezer to plate in 20 – 25 minutes, great when you are pressed for time but want to have a protein rich meal to serve to your hungry family.

While I appreciate the Bernard Matthews products are probably considered processed food, we liked the fact that there are practically no hidden extras within the food, and the majority is just plain British turkey.  Also the product is locally sourced in the UK and with no added colours, flavourings or preservatives, and it is coated in a wholemeal blend crumb.

The proof is of course in the pudding and when I served this meal up to my girls they totally loved them, without the usual moaning and covering the food with tomato sauce, really that is all you can ask for in a meal for your children.  They ate the whole meal I served them and then went on to ask for seconds, which is a rarity for Lara, our youngest, as she can be fussy with food.

A little more about Bernard Matthews

Bernard Matthews had just 20 turkey eggs and in the 1950’s he had a great business idea to farm British turkeys for profit. This British business grew and grew and has become the UK’s largest turkey producer, and now farms over 7 million turkeys every year, giving employment to over 2000 staff across the East Anglia region.  Staff are important to Bernard Matthews and of these 2000 staff members many have worked for the company for over 25 years.  It’s not just outdoor turkey farming staff either with many highly trained staff such as product development chef’s involved in developing and producing the tasty Turkey meals that I made for my girls.
The 2000+ turkeys that Bernard Matthews farm are all 100% British, all the turkey eggs are hatched in the UK and then reared in Bernard Matthews turkey farms, which are located from Norfolk to Suffolk to Lincolnshire.  Another very positive fact about the brand is that they have a traceable “Farm To Fork” audit trail for all their turkey products.
Bernard Matthews have stringent high standards of food safety, traceability and of their turkeys welfare.  The Bernard Matthews farms, feed mill, production sites and hatcheries are all Quality British Turkey (QBT) and Assured Food Standards certified (Red Tractor) which for our family is something that we always look for while we are grocery shopping.

Bernard Matthews are very supportive of giving back to the communities, and are involved in supporting many charities, schools and colleges, as well as agriculture and the young people in these communities.
In 2008 Bernard Matthews began their Youth Awards, an initiative in celebration of the young people of Norfolk and Suffolk to reward and celebrate their outstanding achievements (over 150 young people), this initiative is still running today and something that Bernard Matthews are very proud of.

We  loved trying out the new range from Bernard Matthews and they have been a very welcome addition to our family meal times, with less time spent in the kitchen and more time to spend together.

We have made a short video to talk about what we thought of the Bernard Matthews range below;

Have you been serving up any of Bernard Matthews meals to your family? If you have I would love to know what they thought and if they loved them as much as my children did.

    Sounds like a great option for a busy day! My son is a really picky eater too and it's not always easy to find an option that he will enjoy. It's moaning and ketchup at our house too!

    Living in Norfolk, we have Bernard Matthews up the road and it's a great place to go at Christmas to buy your Turkeys a lot cheaper than the shop.
