Back To School With A Bento Box From monbento

Just a few more days to go before the kids go back to school and I am really glad to be sending them back with these colourful, bright Bento Boxes filled with healthy options for them to have when the hunger pangs hit at lunchtime.

What I like about the whole range of Bento Boxes is there is something for everyone and while it is lovely to buy new school lunch boxes for the kids, what’s even better is when you can easily find the perfect box for mum and dad too.

What Are Bento Boxes?

I do love a product which comes from an individual finding a solution to a problem, and the concept behind the Bento Box comes from Emilie Creuzieux who was a busy woman who needed a solution to having an accessible lunchbox which was practical, efficient and could store healthy food options to snack on during the day.

Cue monbento Mania around the world! With the bright, vibrant colours and the Japanese influence which came from Emilie’s love for the Japanese style the Bento Boxes have been inspiring people all over the world to ditch the traditional lunch-box in favour for the ever-so practical and stylish Bento Box.

Monbento Tresor Banana – The Kid’s Box £16.00

In vibrant yellow and orange Lara absolutely loved this lunch-box, it looks fun and bright and is easy to dismantle to get to all the healthy food options for her lunch. Lara is 9 and likes to have lots of little options for her packed lunches, small sandwiches, fruit, raw vegetables and perhaps a small tub of tuna or chicken. The Bento Box is ideal as it has plenty of little compartments to house all her favourite foods in, and keep them airtight and fresh too.

She loved the little round cards that she can interchange on the top of the box and I think this is a fun addition for kids so they can change it up every day. One of the most important features that I was looking for was that it was easy for Lara to disassemble and reassemble and she found it really simple to do, which is a relief as she is of an age where she doesn’t want to ask for help all the time!

With the Bento Box being easy to wash, portable and practical all that is needed is a little creativity in the kitchen to come up with some attractive looking healthy options for Lara.

Monbento  Pochette – Banana – The Bento Bag £5.60

While it’s great to have found a lunch-box to suit Lara I was really glad to see that on the monbento website they have bags to go with the lunch-boxes. At Lara’s school they have the morning routine of placing (or throwing!) their lunch-boxes down under where their bags are hung ready for lunchtime, so it is quite essential to make sure that the lunch-box is either padded or in a soft style bag.

The Bento Bag from monbento is again really easy to open and close soft and slightly padded, and is a little extra protection against any knocks or bangs. It’s made from a polyester fabric and is machine washable – which is music to my ears!

All The Bento Boxes Are:

  • Food grade
  • BPA free

  • Microwave safe containers

Can't believe it's time for the kids to go back already! I love the idea of bento boxes, wish we had these when I was younger, I think it would have encouraged me to fill up the little individual slots with different healthy options. Makes it a bit more fun I think 🙂

It looks like they come apart, which is a must for me so they can be cleaned properly or you get mouldy food remains inside – yuk!
