After a really wonderful Summer our youngest has gone (albeit a little reluctantly) back to school this week and although she dragged her heels a little on the first day, she has really enjoyed herself in her new class which is music to my ears. Getting organised for the beginning of term is always something both my girls have loved to do, with stationery, new bags and lunch-boxes top of the list. There are so many bright and colourful back to school sets out there to choose and the girls have had a lot of fun deciding exactly what they want for the school year ahead.
Joules Buddie Backpack
With our oldest off to college soon she has also been getting ready and as they usually have such opposite taste, it really surprised me they both went for the cute Joules bag (Buddie Character Backpack) below. It’s small enough for our youngest but not too dinky that it doesn’t fit in all the essentials and she loves the fact it has a drink bottle holder on the outside as well as a front zipped pocket. We ended up buying one for each on a recent shopping trip, as they both loved the cute and colourful design and the fact it’s so robust practical is a huge plus too.
Also from Joules are two very useful lunch-boxes in different styles, both are polyester and wipe clean ideal for back to school lunches and include a handy plastic sandwich box inside. They both sport a useful handle on the top of the lunchbox and a wipe clean insulated lining and plenty of room for a large packed lunch. As you can see below they are both lovely designs, the Floral Ditsy Blue is just perfect for our oldest who is off to college and our youngest has just fallen in love with the super cute Guinea Pig design of the other lunch-box. Both lunch-boxes are £16.95 from House Of Fraser here and if you head to their website this week I see they have a sale on a selection of bags and lunch-boxes. As we have tested out the Joules bags too the matching lunch-boxes fit perfectly into the bags which is a dream for our little one as it’s one less thing to carry on the walk to school!
Having had a little obsession with Converse since she started gymnastics Lara, our ten year old was thrilled with a second school bag in the form of the blue and red beauty below. Although quite dinky you can fit in a lot in the main body of the bag, with a useful zipped front pocket, padded straps and a grab-cord on the zips for fast opening and closing. At £20 it is great value and ideal for school and the unisex colours make it ideal for any child. What Lara liked the most other than the design was the grab-cords on the zips as it makes it so much easier for quick access when she was at school and in a hurry to get to class – what a brilliant feature for little hands. Available to buy from Very here.
Once the girls had sorted out their uniforms, bags, shoes and lunch-boxes next was the stationery and the ever trusty brand Bic was fantastic as both girls got kitted out with a highlighter set (15 piece) and a writing set (15 piece) which was more than enough to last them through the term. The sets were from the #JustWrite collection, a campaign to encourage the nation to revive a love of writing and at £10 each they are great value as they have everything kids need in their pencil cases. Both girls love to doodle and they have loved testing out the sets before term started, they love all things kawaii and have been trying out the sets in their cute kawaii colouring books.
