April’s Degustabox was full of tasty foods with an International Theme, if you prefer to have an alcohol free box you can opt to have your box delivered with an alcohol substitute which is good as not everyone likes to include alcohol in these type of food boxes.
If you haven’t yet heard of Degustabox it is a monthly food box you can have delivered to your door with new products from existing and new brands always at a good value, each month you pay £12.99 for the Degustabox however the products are usually double this price in value.
What I like about each Degustabox is that they are so varied every month, and always contain products I would perhaps not usually select when out shopping. I have found some really good items for my family from the previous Degustabox deliveries and many that I have gone on to buy again in the supermarket. If you fancy trying out a Degustabox, don’t forget to use the discount code below to redeem £3.00 off your first box.
Veetee Rice x 2 £1.49 each
First out of the box was the Veetee rice packs, two were included in this month’s Degustabox and we received the Peri Peri and Spicy Mexican Style packs. These convenient store cupboard rice packs are very handy to have at the ready when you need to whip up a quick meal and we all liked the fact that they were full of flavour as well as being really quick to make. I think these rice packs from Veetee are a good idea if you are short on time or just want really fast meal ideas.
Wonjo With Fresh Ginger Root- Chosan £2.50
Something totally different from this months Degustabox was the bottle of Wonjo from Chosan, an African hibiscus drink with fresh ginger root. A very unique and tasty drink that is a beautiful red/pink colour from the hibiscus plant and the taste is a fruity flavour with a hint of ginger, really good to try something so different and we all liked the flavour.
Cirio Tomato Fillets & Double Concentrate Tomato Puree £1.69 & £1.20
I always have tomato puree and tins of tomatoes in my store cupboard as they come in handy for so many recipes, so I was glad to see these two products from Cirio to try out. I liked the fact that the tomato puree was in four handy little containers, so you can easily store them away in your cupboard for later use and just use one when you need you. The tomato fillets were a little different and we ended up using them on a pizza and also in a chicken casserole, a great alternative to the usual chopped tomatoes.
Mini Chocolate With Cereals & Choco-Bons – Kinder £1.55 each
Both my girls love Kinder products so when I saw that there were two products from Kinder in the Degustabox I knew we would have a happy time testing them out! The mini Kinder chocolates with cereal are all individually wrapped and have five different toasted cereals in them covered in chocolate, very tasty and a little crunchy. Choco-Bons are also individually wrapped and are a mixture of hazelnut pieces and chocolate with the distinctive taste of Kinder chocolate. What’s not to love?
Idrinq Original 2 x £1.49
Idrinq is a new generation drink marketed as a drink that can make you think more clearly and think smarter, well I’m not sure about theses claims as it hasn’t made me any smarter but I did like the taste. It’s a carbonated drink with no added caffeine, preservatives, sweeteners or colours and active ingredients to help with signs of fatigue and tiredness. It has a citrus caramel flavour and is very tasty and although I rarely have carbonated drinks I did really like this one.
Scheckters Organic Drink £1.35
This 100% natural organic energy drink is vegetarian approved, soil association approved, and Fairtrade approved and contains natural ingredients. I have to say that I don’t buy energy drinks so I have nothing to compare this to, but it seems what makes this different is that it contains sparkling water with natural ingredients rather than synthetic ingredients.
I did actually like the taste, but do read the warnings as it isn’t suitable for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women as it does contain caffeine. If you are looking for an energy drink I think this would be a great candidate for it’s natural ingredients and also low calorie content.
Nandos Peri Peri Grooves 3 x 69p
It was only a matter of time before Nandos released some more tasty products from their brand that the public could buy in the supermarket and these Peri Peri Grooves crisps are a great addition. In our box we had three spicy Peri Peri flavours (Peri-salted, Spicy chicken & Sizzling Hot) all have the well known Nandos flavour of Peri Peri and are a great alternative crisp with a spicy flavour.
Schwartz Recipe Mix 2 x £1.08
From Schwartz are these brand new products with connivence and speed in mind, we received the Korma and Balti packets which both come with recipe suggestions on the back and are an ideal addition to liven up your curry and add some authentic flavouring.
Kingfisher Beer £2.00
If you chose the Degustabox with the alcohol option then you will get a bottle of Kingfisher beer, India’s no. 1 selling beer as it is a perfect accompaniment to a curry as it is light and refreshing. I am not a big beer drinker but my OH tried it and said it was a good light beer and he would try again.
Barry’s Tea – £1.75
I was drawn to this tea just by it’s name! Barry’s Tea is an Irish brand who have been trading since 1901 and a this was a great way to try out a brand of tea I hadn’t tried yet. A smooth and very drinkable tea, that is perfect for everyday drinking, it was so good to try a different brand as I always opt for the same ones at every supermarket shop!
DeBeukelaer Cookies Bakery £2.00
These cookies from DeBeukalaer are individually wrapped (and big!) tasty treats which are inspired by a traditional recipe from the Greenwich Village bakeries in New York. A huge hit with my family as they are very tasty, we tried the Creamy Cookie version out but there are tow other flavours, Crispy Cookie and Brownie Cookie as well.
