Advent Calendars – My Family Ties

Advent Calendars Christmas 2014

As Christmas is getting nearer it’s time to think of which advent calendars to choose for the children and for yourself too.  It has become part of the Christmas tradition to have an advent calendar to count down to the big day, and every year there are new and exciting calendars to choose from, here are a selection that caught my eye this year.

Cadbury’s Advent Calendar £2.19

These advent calendar’s from Cadbury’s are fun and great value, and available at most supermarkets too which is very useful. Behind each festive window is a tasty chocolate treat in seasonal designs. If you head over to the Sainsbury’s website they have a great deal on, two Cadbury’s advent calendars for £3.00, great if you have to buy for more than one child.

For more information on this Cadbury’s advent or any other Cadbury’s products head over to the Cadbuy’s website where you will find all the information you need.

Divine Advent Calendars £4.00  Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado.
Divine have released their advent calendars using their Fairtrade chocolate that we all know and love. Expect to see traditional nativity scenes on the calendar and inside each window you will find a delicious solid milk chocolate heart and a little more each day on the Nativity story. The chocolate is suitable for vegetarians and I have to say that as Divine is my favourite chocolate it is on my list ever year!
Divine Chocolate works closely with the cocoa farmers who co-own with Divine, there is a co-operative of 80,000 cocoa farmers in Ghana who benefit from the sale of the chocolate and the also receive a 45% share of Divine’s profits.  With this said, it is important to support Divine by buying their chocolate knowing that the profits will support the economy and stability of the cocoa farmers and their industry.
For more information on this and other Divine products have a look on the Divine website where you will find all the information you need.

Benefit Advent Calendar £60 Benefit Cosmetics

Here is a wonderful advent calendar for the ladies, instead of a chocolate treat a day you get a Benefit treat every day.  You will open the window every day to reveal a mini beauty treasure every day to total 24 Benefit mini treats! In a fun sweet shop design this is the advent calendar to buy for the girl who loves a of a beauty treat, who won’t be disappointed with a 7.5 ml mini treat of some Benefit favourites a day.
The only decision you will have to make is if you can wait to open the next window or if you will end up opening all of them to reveal the beauty goodies before Christmas day!
For more information of this fabulous beauty advent calendar or any other product from Benefit Cosmetics do visit the Benefit website for all the information you need.
The calendar is currently sold out on the Benefit Cosmetics website but if you head over to the Debenhams website  they do have it in stock, but as it is so very popular I would say it will sell out quite quickly, so if it is on your list I would get it now to avoid disappointment.

Smiggle Advent Calendar £20 – Smiggle Website

My love of stationery has followed down to my own daughters and this makes the Smiggle advent calendar perfect for any children (or adults!) this Christmas, who like me and my girls love a bit of gorgeous stationery.  Inside each window on the Smiggle advent is a limited edition Smiggle treat, and for 5 lucky winners they will find a winning bell which will give them £250 worth of Smiggle credit.
The fun triangular shape with a traditional Christmas tree design is beautifully presented and a great alternative to the usual chocolate advent to give your children. Just remember that this advent calendar is not suitable for ages 3 and under, as there may be items that are small and are a choking hazard to them.
If you have been into a Smiggle store or had a browse on their website you will know they have many fabulous items that kids just love so this will be a favourite for my children who love little gifts from Smiggle and I’m sure if your children like stationery they will love it too.
For more information on this Smiggle advent calendar or any other Smiggle product (|they have some great stocking fillers) head over to the Smiggle website for all the information you need.

Tobar Wooden Christmas Tree Advent Calendar £25 – Tobar Website
Another alternative to the usual chocolate treat a day advent calendar is to buy a wooden advent such as this traditional looking one from Tobar. With 24 numbered drawers decorated with Christmas designs, you can choose what you want to include for your child. Big enough to fit in a few sweets or a small toy the beauty of this advent calendar is that it is reusable for next year and beyond, so although you are paying slightly more than you usually would, it will last and last, and become part of your Christmas tradition.
All that you need to do is decide what to put into the advent drawers.
For more information on this Tobar advent calendar and all their other products head over to the Tobar website  where you can find all the information you need.
I have seen on  you can buy it for a bit less at £17.70 but I don’t know how long this will last, so best to get it while they have it at this price if it’s on your list.
I hope this has given you a little inspiration for your advent calendar shopping, I love the countdown to Christmas almost as much as the big day, so buying the advent calendars, for me is the beginning of the festive fun.
